Why should I visit my local library?
There’s loads on offer at your local East Sussex library.
Borrow books
All East Sussex libraries have a special teen section where you can find the latest releases. You can choose books from the adult sections too. As well as fiction, there are books to help with homework and revision, manga and graphic novels and lots more.
Books are free to borrow for up to three weeks. If you want to order a particular book, we’ll try to get it for you and that’s free too if you’re under 16.
Borrow talking books
Talking books are great for listening on the move. They are free to under 16s or cost from £1.30 for three weeks.
Borrow DVDs or Music CDs
Borrow a Premiere DVD for £3.50 and keep it for a week – much longer than the video shop! We also have a wide variety of other titles from £2.50 a week. Some libraries also have music CDs at £1 per week rental.
Find information
Libraries are a great place to get information on careers, benefits and courses. You can also read newspapers to help you look for jobs.
Get homework help
All our libraries have books and online resources to help you with your homework. There are great reference titles available on the E-library.
Use a computer
If you’re fed up trying to get a turn on the family computer or it’s too noisy to work at home, why not book a computer to use at the library for up to an hour? It’s free and we have fast broadband. If you are under 16 your parent or carer will need to sign a form giving their permission.
