• Your LGBT rights

    • If you are LGBT, you have the right to be treated as fairly and with as much respect as anybody else. We are working with Stonewall and others to raise awareness of issues in schools, improve lives and help you to stand up for your rights.

      Equality and the law

The Equality Act 2010 replaced previous anti-discrimination laws with a single Act.

It makes it unlawful to discriminate, harass or victimise any person due to their 'protected characteristic'. Sexual orientation and gender reassignment are two of the nine specific characteristics that are protected under the Act.
