When you are in care, contact with your family if appropriate and something you would like, will continue to be supported by the Through Care service and your worker will support you with these arrangements and how to manage this.
You are always able to change your mind about how often you see your family, and if you would like something to change it will be important to discuss this with your worker in your visits or as part of your pathway planning.
For lots of young people, contact can sometimes bring up difficult feelings, which can mean you need some support to deal with it at these times.
When you’re younger, contact with your family is supervised. This is sometimes in a contact centre, but normally means there are other adults there supporting you. As you get older, you will have more opportunities to manage contact with your family more independently and will be supported to do this gradually, when it is right for you.
